Great Yarmouth Conservatives Announce New Group Leader

 

Cllr. Carl Smith will take on the role after Cllr. Graham Plant stands down.

 

Great Yarmouth Conservatives are delighted to announce that following the decision of Cllr. Graham Plant to stand down as Group Leader, the group has unanimously chosen Cllr. Carl Smith to replace him. 

 

Cllr. Smith, who has represented the Bradwell North since 2015, and is currently Chairman of the Environment Committee and Deupty Leader of the Borough Council. Cllr. Smith will now be the Conservative Nominee for Leader of the Borough Council at the full council meeting on the 16th May.

 

Cllr. Smith said, “It is a huge honour to have been selected by my colleagues to act as Leader. I will make sure that I repay their trust, and will ensure that the Council under my leadership moves rapidly to enact our manifesto. During the election, we made several clear promises, and we will deliver the improvements the people of Great Yarmouth expect.

 

I would like to thank Graham Plant for his hard work, he has been a fantastic champion for Great Yarmouth, and will continue to be so for many years to come.”
